Occupation Based Kits are a great way to integrate more real-to-life activities in your hospital or SNF facility when it can be a challenge to replicate these task in the typical healthcare environment. They can easily be graded up or down based on the patient's cognition, sensory integration, social participation or physical ability.
Just grab a container, throw in your supplies and they are ready to go. What a great way to promote independence through activity!

My computer had trouble downloading this activity kit supply list, and it acted like it was trying to run a program. Would you be able to send this to me in a pdf or Word doc?
Love the occupation-based activities! I’m in two Inpatient Rehab facilities with very little space (even in their kitchens or cabinet space) but love the ideas here and try to incorporate meaningful occupation into every session.
Thanks for letting me know Kendle! If your computer is blocking pop ups, it might not go through. Either way, I want to make sure you got it and I sent a copy of the occupation based activities to your email. Glad they are helpful
Would you mind sending me the info for the kits? And what you included in each of yours? I’m a level II student and I’m making some for my facility in acute!
of course! I will email you
Hello!
I was wondering if you had any suggestions for actual activities for a cognition kit?
Thank you!

Good question Andrea – the occupation based kits are typically geared toward a task that can be adapted for all physical limitation, cognitive status, etc. So in regards to cognition kits, I haven’t ever put something together, but you could definitely use the occupation based kits to work on executive function if you are working with a population such as a CVA where there is planned improvement vs dementia. Example – you could have someone participating in a making coffee task while answering a phone call or being interrupted and resuming task. I love working on cognition with functional, “real life” tasks and scenarios vs pen and paper (which needs to be done from time to time as well).
Thank you so much for these ideas!!
